As England reached the final of the Women’s Euros, ‘Sweet Caroline’ fever hit the nation. The Neil Diamond classic / annoying ear worm has become a favourite at games.

Sainsbury’s wanted to say more than “Woo, go team”. With a swede, a carrot and a lime positioned just-so,  people couldn't unhear ‘Sweet Caroline’.

It was a smash. Until the Football Association threatened legal action…

First, the trade mags picked up on it.

And then…

It seems the English Football Association had a slight issue with our use of the term ‘Lionesses’. Something to do with copyright, apparently.

And so had Twitter and Instagram. The silly little pun reached 2.6 million views on TikTok in 24 hours.

Oh, and the Lionesses ended up winning. I like to think the vegetable-based Neil Diamondery had something to do with it…
